Episode 13: Hiring technical students for engineering-type roles: skills we look for

Each week, we chat about some of the things we did this week at tincubate, our electronics tinkering and design company that we affectionately call the tincbuator. We do all things tech with physical products, and each we'll show a glimpse based on discussions on our social media posts. Comment to tell us what you like, what questions you have and what you want to see more of so we can help you all see the process behind real-world wireless tech product development!

We created our Tech Tinkerer co-op position (paid, post-secondary student role) based on the kind of jobs we wish were available when we were in school AND to help round out some gap skills in the current academic programs.

This week our new co-op student started, he's a first-year Mechatronics Engineering student at a local university that's renowned for Engineering programs. So, this week we're chatting candidly about how we screen candidates, tips to stand out and what soft skills we look for aside from the basic tech fundamentals when we're interviewing technical students for our technical roles.

Let's be honest, we can help teach the hard skills. This video will hopefully help people find tips to stand out and land their dream jobs!
